koalas everyday life

Koalas are Australian animals which rely on eucalyptus trees for habitat and food. They are marsupials so they have little pouch to carry their babies. They are nocturnal animals which means awake at night and sleep during day. These animals sleep about 18 hours a day. They have to sleep long to conserve as much energy as possible, because of little energy diet- which contains of eucalyptus leaves. Also sleeping helps their body with digestion, thats because eucalyptus is toxic and their digestive system try hard to digest it. So sleep is really important to break down these toxins. Koalas from time to time will wake up just to move for a bit or to interact with other Koalas. They are pretty social and can make friendship or family bonds. Koalas communicate with eachother by making noises similar to snoring and communication is part of their life. At night they wake up to eat something and they explore to find the right eucalyptus leaves (Koalas only eat a few species). Sometimes when they dont have anything to do at night they will take naps. Their life is interesting because is not that common among animals.
